Tift Unveils New Medical Information System

TIFTON, Ga. — Tift Regional Health System in Tifton will be changing the way that it stores patient information as the hospital moves to put all financial and medical information into one system. The new platform will combine seven information systems to allow doctors and patients to stay healthy and on budget when providing care, according to local new source WTOC.

The data stored in the systems have been a crucial part in working with the patients, and Tift Regional Health wanted to be able to keep patient information as clear and easy to access as possible. Tift has chosen Cerner to implement an integrated electronic health record (HER) and revenue cycle management system, the Cerner Millennium System, across the skilled nursing centers, hospitals and physician offices in Tift Regional, according to a statement.

The Cerner Millennium System will eliminate third-party systems and allow Tift to have an integrated workflow to support the needs, culture and mission of the health system as well as helping direct patients across the continuum of care. With all of the information on one platform, Tift expects patient care to improve. “Having access to integrated clinical and financial information will provide us with a platform that works for our organization versus our organization working around a disconnected system,” Guy McAllister, chief information officer and vice president of Tift, said in a statement.

Tift Regional Health’s new relationship with Cerner also comes with the services of CommonWell Health Alliance, which will help with patient identity management, record locater services and document query and retrieval, according to Tift Regional Health. The program will allow patients to share their medical records from Tift Regional Health with other providers regardless of their location or IT system affiliation.

The new system will be up and running in October 2017, according to WTOC. Cerner is excited to work with Tift Regional Health to provide quality patient care to the local community and throughout the nation.
