Walt Vernon

The Health Care Institute (HCI) appointed Walt Vernon, CEO of Mazzetti, to its board of directors. Vernon brings to this new role more than 30 years of experience working with health care clients of all sizes around the world to plan, design and operate their facilities. In addition to his work with Mazzetti, a national consulting and engineering firm headquartered in San Francisco, Vernon has served with a number of other industry organizations. Currently, Vernon serves on the NFPA 99 Electrical Systems Technical Committee, is the vice chair for the ASHRAE 189.3 committee and represents ASHE on the ASHRAE 188 committee. Vernon is on the Board of the Research and Development Committee for the Facilities Guideline Institute. He also sits on UL1069 for nurse call systems and Setting Standards for Sustainability, an ANSI E60 committee, and is leading the team developing the American Hospital Association’s Sustainability Roadmap and Energy to Care Programs. Vernon previously served as electrical engineer for the California Hospital Building Safety Board. He also served as one of three co-coordinators for the Green Guide for Healthcare and is a former board member of Healthcare Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth.
