Miles S. Snowden

TeamHealth Holdings, a provider of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals, has appointed Miles S. Snowden, M.D., MPH, as the company’s chief medical officer, effective Sept. 15, 2014. Snowden is replacing Gar LaSalle, M.D., who retired from the position earlier this year. With 30 years of clinical leadership experience, Snowden is a strategic advisor and innovator for physicians, hospitals and payers seeking successful development and participation in new business models. His most recent position was CMO for Optum, the health services division of UnitedHealth Group, where he provided clinical oversight of the company’s development and distribution of health care technology, services and consulting. Prior to his work at UnitedHealth Group, Snowden served as CMO at Delta Air Lines, where he managed global health care benefits. Snowden obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Louisville, and he completed his medical residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
